People who are granted permanent residency in a country are usually issued some sort of documentary evidence as legal proof of this status. In the past, many countries merely stamped the person's passport indicating that the holder was admitted as a permanent resident or that he/she was exempt from immigration control and permitted to work without restriction. Other countries would issue a photo ID card, place a visa sticker or certificate of residence in the person's passport, or issue a letter to confirm their permanent resident status.
In Canada, permanent residents are issued a photo ID card known as Permanent Resident Card.
In the United States, permanent residents are issued a photo ID card - officially known as a Permanent Resident Card, but unofficially referred to as a "green card". (Wikipedia)
One strategy I have employed in the past is to issue a power of attorney in the name of the parent company and executed by one of its officers, then attach an addendum listing the separately incorporated subsidiaries that will be using the same customs broker. (Lexology)
On top of that, although the increased security on the border is serving as a deterrent, we found that it has also resulted in trapping people inside the US who in the past might have come over for seasonal work and returned back to their home country to re-join their families. (Huffington Post)
The term "amended and restated" is used in corporate law to refer to an agreement or other document that has been amended one or more times in the past and is presented in its entirety (restated) including all amendments to date. Thus, an amended and restated document includes all past amendments executed up to the date of the amended and restated agreement. The purpose of the amended and restated agreement is to simplify reading of the document, as one does not need to read the original document side-by-side with all subsequent amendments. (Witnesseth)
